Yad:  From the Hewbrew word for hand, a yad is a Jewish ritual pointer, used
when reading Torah scrolls.  It allows the reader to follow the text while not
touching the delicate Torah parchment.  The end of a yad is usually shaped in
the form of a pointing hand.
